• Didn't work for our big group.

  This is the first time I've ever posted a negative review on VRBO or AirBnB. Although this home has many positive aspects, the home did not meet our expectations in several ways. I'll start with the positives first; it has a gorgeous outdoor landscape, great deck, and it is a cute cabin in a nice community. Now some drawbacks; you need to pay $50 per car just to park in that community. After sunset, the main level of the home was very dark. If not sitting on the couch you could not read a book because the lighting was sparse. Furthermore, the main-level bedrooms were also VERY dim. Our bedroom had one small lamp in the corner and no overhead lighting. After dark, when my wife and I tried to look in our suitcases we needed to use flashlights to see anything. Conversely, the loft was well-lit and cozy but not great if someone needed to sleep there. The ceiling fan made noise on certain settings and when the sun came up at 6 AM there were no curtains to block the direct sunlight. Our family could not sleep well after 6AM due to bright sunlight on their faces. Also, we booked for 8 people but we only had quilts and pillows for 7 people.

  Lastly, a rental company (Evolve) managed the home instead of contacting the homeowner directly. They did not communicate through the VRBO app like most hosts. I emailed Evolve with my complaints and their responses were grossly insufficient. I'm more frustrated with Evolve than with the frustrations mentioned above.

• Good place for Yosemite launching point

  Overall it is a good place to stay, the property was as described (the manual was very helpful upon check in), more than enough space, having 2 baths and AC was nice with the record high temps. The upstairs was recently remodeled and a fun place to hang out, also enjoyed the deck in the evenings. Lighting was frustrating in the house, and a few kitchen essentials seemed light, but overall a good place.

• Perfect home base

  We loved staying here as we explored Yosemite. The porch and upstairs were perfect for gathering and the house had everything we needed. We didn’t stay long enough to really appreciate the neighborhood amenities, but they were all outlined in the host’s guidebook along with restaurant recommendations and Yosemite tips. Would definitely recommend for families looking for vacation rentals.

  Our stay at Chenda's place was amazing. It's a spacious, beautiful home, conveniently located right next to a lake and not far from Yosemite. We took advantage of nature as much as we could!
