  This was a good find last minute as my mom asked if I could drive her down to the area so she could go hiking. But…sometimes you believe you’ll stay at a place that is truly smoke free and enforced. We walked into the place and immediately noticed an unpleasant smell. Having a grandmother who smoked, I knew what the smell was right away We had to go to the store to buy air freshener. And I had to take my rescue inhaler twice. The WiFi worked well, as I had to take work calls off and on all day. Also, if you take a pet with you, just know there is a gap in the fence. I brought my 15 pound mini schnauzer and she slipped through a gap in the fence. The house is conveniently located, with tons of breweries and cafes in walking distance. Overall, the place is clean (minus that horrid smoke smell) and comfortable for 2 people.

  Great stay! Very clean. Nice upgrades. Shower works awesome! Close to restaurants and a walk to the beach. Wld stay here agin for sure:)

• Heat did not work

  We stayed at this property in early December, and the heat did not work. We woke up the first night and the inside of the home was in the 50s. When we reached out we were told that they thought the issue had been fixed. Over the next two days, they sent out two repair people who told us they could only do a temporary fix, and it would turn back off (which it did) — we flagged the issue to the contact and were told to use more blankets …

• Amazing vacay in SoCal

  This is our second time in this rental. It’s in an amazing location, but if you’re looking for super quiet, you should book elsewhere. This apartment is near restaurants and shops and a busy intersection, and the fenced front yard — great for your puppers— doesn’t offer much privacy. But it’s super clean and comfortable, so convenient to beaches in Carlsbad or Oceanside… we had an awesome time and hope to be back!

• Nice spot in South O

  Overall, nice spot but didn't have much privacy, it feels like a place run by a decent management company. I grew up in O'side so it feels like a place that is owned by someone disconnected from the community.

  The pros:

  proximity to beach & food, beautiful yard, decorated well (boho modern), upgraded (remodeled), clean, great shower, comfy bed.

  The cons:

  terrible lighting (all cool color LEDs) - come on guys, everyone loves warm lighting.

  Lots of foot traffic in front of the yard, so our dogs got a lot a stimulation and lots of people oddly will just look into the house/make full eye contact with you when they walk by.

  Entry was confusing (VRBO instructions did not match the house manual so we had trouble finding the right lock to gain access, and then we found that 2 of 4 sliders do not lock or have any way to be secured. Not dope.

  The toilet paper is single ply.

  The Nespresso is a great amenity but literally sounds like a dying jet engine (LOUD).
