We like older homes and were delighted to find this historic home in Florida. The owners live there in the main part of the house and have a studio apt. with a separate entrance on one side of the home. They were most welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. They kindly gave me some delicious loquats from their tree and later some dried leaves to make a tea for my cough! They also knew one of our family members who had passed away fairly recently so that connection was very special.
We enjoyed the lovely flowers and other plantings on the grounds as well as being on a small lake. There is a map we used to walk in the neighborhood to see other historic buildings. For dinner one night we drove the 3-4 blocks to a nearby restaurant but you could walk there as well.
The bedroom was spacious with high ceilings and parquet floors. The bathroom was old-fashioned but everything worked well! The kitchen area is designed into a porch so it's a little compact, but sunny and pleasant. We ate our breakfasts and lunches there for the 3 days of our stay.
What made it special was the homeyness of the stay. It wasn't "slick" decorating and it took a couple tries to open the door with the lock system, but the hospitality of the owners, the lake setting and the lovely neighborhood made it easy to relax and feel welcomed!
Check-in process was very simple, property was clean, everything worked properly. Property was beautiful, right along lakefront, with private dock. Beautiful gardens, carport for vehicle, quiet atmosphere for relaxing and still not far away from Daytona Beach. In description of kitchenette knowing how big fridge was would be helpful if longer stay. We had a wonderful time.
