"Hanna's Place" is apparently the oldest house in the neighborhood. With brick foundation, once you walk in the smell of Glade plug-ins ( in every receptacles) hits you in the face. So if you have allergies or breathing problems, be aware.
We packed up food since we like to cook at home and I chose this place because it advertised a kitchen not knowing the stove and oven are from the 1950s. Couple of the knobs appeared to be melted from the heat and were not replaced. The heating elements do not sit correctly on the stove. I was not able to adjust the heat at all to cook my food. The Teflon pots n pans were all scratched up. Then it was the matter of the sleeping quarters. The mattress was so squeaky that every time I turned at night it would wake me up so for three nights I had a very restless sleep. The best part of my trip was not being in the house. I'll probably would've had a better time camping. The property manager who was very polite. But when I call them and told them that this place could use a good renovation as much as they charge each guest he was not very responsive. The location is very convenient to the beach. And if you are OK with squeaky bed and eat at the restaurant every night and have breakfast out every day then you are welcome. Unfortunately I did not read the reviews prior to booking this place. Apparently there were many reviews having the same issue from 2025 and they did not upgrade anything in this house.
Mold mold mold! This apartment honestly should be condemned. There is so much mold in this apartment. It is a major health hazard. And the windows don’t even open. This place felt kind of like a dungeon. Extremely old appliances, stove barely works. The smell is disgusting. Stay away unless you wanna end up in the hospital from inhaling mold spores!

From the owner: "This is a false report. We take photographs before every guest moves in, and the photographs show no mold and a wonderfully clean apartment. Guest continued to stay at Hannah's Place, because we provide a beach wagon, beach chairs, and an umbrella, and they even requested a late check-out. We look forward to vacationers enjoying our beautiful Emerald Isle Beach, which is only 30 yards away from Hannah's Place."
Great location.

Great location, close proximity to many local restaurants and grocery stores etc. All the basic essentials you need in a beach small beach getaway. Had no issues while we were staying there but it was easy to contact the property owner if needed.

Upon entering the apartment, there was a smell. I first noticed the boat table in the dining area, went into the kitchen to put food away& realized that the kitchen was totally disgusting. The stove top wouldn’t even heat up. We had a pot on there for an hour and a half and it didn’t even heat up and then I had to throw that away because the rust from the pot had the food smelling like the pot.We opened the oven, which had a lock on it and inside the oven was a bunch of rusted pans.I looked under the hood where the fan is supposed to be on the stove and that was totally rusted. The faucet on the kitchen sink was rusted and dirty. The dryer was rusted! At first, we couldn’t find any towels then we saw this teeny closet in the bathroom and when you opened it, the smell hit your nostrils so bad so we use those tiles to stand on in the bathroom. The toilet was wobbly.. so we brought our own food with us, but we weren’t able to cook it which made us have to spend money to go out to eat or to have food delivered and I texted the property manager the very first day with all the issues and pictures and still haven’t heard back oh and the screen door was so hard to open when you left out and went to come back in! They had so many rules be careful of how much water you use and all this crazy stuff but yet the place was so outdated and smelled really bad. We didn’t even want to sit on the furniture so we would put something on the furniture to sit on.There were no extra blankets. Only the two that was on the bed or pillows or sheets so I had to put my beach towel on the couch and I set up sleeping for the two nights we were there because I refuse to lay on that couch. This place was totally nasty. I would not recommend this for anyone and I come to Emerald Isle every year with my husband, but he passed away two months ago, so that’s why I was here now. I was here on a memorial for him, but we usually rent a beach house three blocks down from this one and we’re usually here in June, but because of the date the place we usually rent was not available. I don’t know why the property manager never got back to me, but I definitely sent him a message with pictures the day we got here for the amount of money that you pay here for two nights. I deserve to get a discount some kind of money back.
