Upon arriving, unable to access the prop as the code wouldn't work. After several attempts, we tried to contact the "owner contact" & only got VM. Left message. After waiting 15-20 minutes, ended up calling Evolve/VRBO. 1st person spoke w/ended up disconnecting us & we had to call back. The 2nd person we spoke w/advised she would contact owner & either she or owner would call us back. After another 20 minutes, she cb & provided us with a totally different access code then what was initially provided. After several attempts we were able to get in. Upon entering, there was a mildew smell. Overall, appeared clean and they did provide all of the basic kitchen items. The problems included: was in the 2nd bedroom, the bed sits approx. 3' off the floor & no step stool is provided, making it quite difficult. Additionally, the mattresses were very, very firm --- almost like sleeping on the floor. I would recommend the owner invest in mattress toppers to soften it up. We both were in a lot of pain after sleeping on the beds. Back porch was pretty much unusable as furniture was strewn about & there was a pan of old/used charcoal sitting on the floor. They advertise Fire Pit and Grill as amenities, but fail to mention to bring your own wood & charcoal. Making both useless, unless you want to drive 30 minutes to get some. Lastly, only provided 2 toiletpaper rolls, would have been nice to let guests know to bring your own. Definitely not worth 222 a night (with fees and taxes)

Perfect place for our annual Thanksgiving getaway, we had everything we needed. Close to the town of Luray, and Luray Caverns, and a short drive to Skyline Caverns. We would definitely stay here again. We didn’t have a need to contact the host. Thank you for letting us enjoy your home for our holiday.

We stayed here for our trip to Shenandoah National Park.
Upon arrival, we met the owners of the house (privately owned and ran through a rental agency: Evolve). The hosts were both very friendly and accommodating. On a side note, if you have questions, message the number provided as Evolve is slow to answer and they simply manage the listing of the property.
We found the location to be convenient for what we needed. Only 15-20 minutes from Luray and 30 minutes to the Thorton Gap entrance gate at SNP . The house is super close to the local canoe and kayak outfitters and other local options.
The house is among a small neighborhood of local rental properties with one house being super close. This isn't much of a problem for us but we would really like to see blinds or curtains be added in the living and dining room as the neighboring house had guests and were outside late into the night. The bathroom window could also use a covering as well.
The kitchen, however small, did have the vast majority of the items we needed. Only cooking oil and/or butter need brought along, with any of your must haves.
As some other reviews have noted, the reception is quite poor. I struggled at times to load my gps, email, webpages, or even stream music. You should consider this if you require reception. There is also no wifi, nor TV programming. There is however a DVD player with some movies at the house. With no wifi, we recommend you do any initial research on activities/travels before arrival.

The house was nicely set up for 4 adults. When we got there the kitchen was a bit messy but nothing a quick wipe down didn’t fix. I will say that cell service was not great and with the property not having WiFi it made it difficult to check emails, stream music, etc. other than that we really loved how close it was to the tubing place and close enough to town to get to go out for a nice dinner.
